After teaching high school English and Speech in Wisconsin, my home state, for a couple of years, I married a Lutheran pastor and soon became the mother of two sons—Joel and Nathan. I decided free-lance writing sounded fun, and a way to balance my work and family life, so I wrote numerous articles, booklets, card sets, childrens' religious curriculum and poetry, and spent ten years also writing weekly regional and national newspaper columns.
Then I entered the college text and professional book publishing world and had the honor of acquiring and developing music, art, humanities, photography, film, broadcast, and finally a line of forward-thinking business books. From‘87-‘99 I was the editorial manager at Butterworth-Heinemann, a company under the Reed-Elsevier umbrella, dividing my time between England and Boston.
My husband, John, and I moved to central Vermont in late ’99. Besides working with a select number of Sophia Serve clients, I now enjoy doing my own writing as well as gardening and being active in politics and music—four indulgences that occupy many, many wonderful Green Mountain people, I’ve discovered.
